Hatching Date Countdown

The Eggs Have Arrived!

We were fortunate enough to receive 18 eggs.  They are a variety of chickens.  We will have to try and determine their breed once they arrive. The estimated hatch date is May 14th.  It takes about 21 days for them to develop.  They are currently baking at a warm 99.5 degrees and 55% humidity.  Who knew you had to be so precise?  We are hoping for all 18 to hatch; however we have discussed that sometimes the eggs are not healthy enough to hatch.  Stay with us when we attempt to candle the eggs and take a look at their growth from the outside in!

Let the Fun Begin!

All of the supplies have been purchased, and we are ready to begin our chick journey.  The eggs are due to be picked up on April 24th.  They are coming from Bowers Farm, located in Bloomfield Hills.  It takes about 21 days for the eggs to hatch.  That gives us an estimated due date of May 16th.  Once our journey is complete, the chicks will be returned back to the farm. Please visit us often as we update the progress of the eggs and chicks.  Feel free to leave comments for the first graders to view.

The First Grade Team

Thank You PTA

The first graders at Angell Elementary would like to thank our PTA for its generous donation towards our project.  Without your support, we would not be able to have this experience!

Thank you,
